Heute Morgen erwachte ich um 8 Uhr und ging mich gleich mal freilaufen, zurück im Hotel bestellte ich mir einen doppelten Espresso und machte meine Dehnungsübungen am Pool. Es war bedeckt und nur etwa 20 Grad warm, deshalb entschied ich nicht ins kühle Nass zu steigen.
This morning I woke up at 8 am and went for a run, back at the hotel I ordered a double espresso and stretched at the pool. It was overcast and only around 20 centigrade, that’s why I decided not to go for a swim…

Nach dem Frühstück um 11 Uhr fuhren wir Richtung Uspallata, zuerst auf ca. 50 km Schotterpisten, für die wir 2 Stunden benötigten. Es war immer noch bedeckt und je höher wir stiegen je kühler wurde es - bis 10 Grad Celsius! Danach trafen wir auf die Ruta 7, eine super ausgebaute Hauptstrasse, die nach Chile führt, und erreichten das Bergdorf Uspallata (2000 m) um 15 Uhr. Inzwischen war es wieder 30 Grad und die Kriterien unsrer Hotelsuche beinhalteten nun eine Pool… das war schwierig, denn entweder gefiel uns das Zimmer, aber es hatte keinen Pool oder umgekehrt! Nach langem hin und her entschieden wir uns schlussendlich fürs Gran Hotel Uspallata (www.atahoteleria.com.ar/uspallata/english/hotel.html) in einem riesigen Park gelegen, mit schönen und grossen Zimmern aber der Pool wird gerade renoviert… egal, wir genossen den Nachmittag an der herrliche Lage mit Sicht auf die wunderschönen Anden!
Um 20:30 Uhr fuhren wir ins Dorf um im Restaurante El Rancho, das uns bei unserer Ankunft schon aufgefallen war, zu Abend zu essen. Ein 450 g Steak genügt uns nicht mehr, deshalb bestellten wir 650 g (und konnten so alles, was wir nicht mögen weglassen) mit Pommes, einem gemischten Salat und natürlich einer Flasche Malbec. Zum Dessert klapperten wir alle Eisdielen ab, die aber viel zu süsses Eis für meinen Geschmack produzierten, und setzten uns schliesslich ins Casita Suiza, wo Doris ein Eis und ich einen Cappuccino genoss …

After breakfast at 11 am we took the road direction Uspallata, first about 50 km on dirt roads which took us 2 hours. It still was overcast and the higher we drove the cooler it got – the thermometer dropped down to 10 centigrade! Thereafter we reached ruta 7, a good main road which leads to Chile, and arrived at the mountain village Uspallata (2000 m) at 3 pm. In the meantime the temperature was back to 30 degrees and the criteria for a hotel contained a pool now… this was quite difficult, because either we liked the room but there was no pool or vice versa! After long back and forth we finally went for the Gran Hotel Uspallata (www.atahoteleria.com.ar/uspallata/english/hotel.html) situated in a huge park with big and beautiful rooms but the pool was under construction at the moment… whatever, we enjoyed the afternoon with a fantastic view of the Andes!
At 8:30 pm we drove to the village to have dinner at the Restaurante El Rancho, which caught our eyes when arriving. A steak of 450 g is not enough for us any more, that’s why we ordered 650 g (and could leave whatever we didn’t like) with French fries, a mixed salad and of course a bottle of Malbec. For desert we tried all the ice-creams of the parlours around, which produce them too sweet for my taste, and finally went to the Casita Suiza where Doris enjoyed an ice-cream and I a cappuccino…
