Letzte Nacht habe ich gut und lange geschlafen! Um 10 Uhr frühstückte ich draussen auf der Terrasse und anschliessend schrieb ich für meinen Blog. Bevor ich um 12:30 Richtung Süden abfuhr, kaufte ich noch Proviant für unterwegs ein: Wasser und Früchte.


Last night I had a long and good sleep! I had breakfast at 10 am outside on the terrace and subsequently wrote for my blog. Before I hit the road direction South at noon I bought water and fruit for on the way.

Ich fuhr eine Stunde der Panamericana entlang durch die Wüste bis eine Abzweigung nach rechts den Parque Nacional Pan de Azucar signalisierte. Eine super Naturstrasse führte durch den Nationalpark und um 14 Uhr erreichte ich die Küste in Caleta Pan de Azucar. Eine halbe Stunde später alles der spektakulären Küste entlang kam ich in Chañaral an, wo ich mich draussen ins Restaurante Artierra setzte. Daniel, ein Englischlehrer, der mit seiner Freundin dieses Restaurant führt, servierte mit einen Espresso und wir hatten ein kurzes aber intensives Gespräch über die politisch-soziale Situation hier in Chile… bezahlen durfte ich nichts!

I drove along the Panamericana for about an hour through the desert and then turned right into the Parque Nacional Pan de Azucar. A very good dirt road led through the National Park and at 2 pm I reached the coast in Caleta Pan de Azucar (Patricio: That was a very nice hint – thank you so much!). Half an hour later all along the spectacular coast I arrived at Chañaral where I sat outside the Restaurante Artierra. Daniel, an English teacher who managed this restaurant with his girlfriend, served me an espresso and we had a short but intense conversation about the political and social situation here in Chile… and he didn’t let me pay at the end (Daniel: Thank you for your hospitality!)!

2 Stunden später fuhr ich durch Caldera und dann 7 km weiter nach Bahía Inglesa um eine Unterkunft zu suchen. Heute war es das erste Mal schwierig, da die Hotels entweder ausgebucht waren oder niemand dort war (nur eine Telefonnummer an der Tür)… Ich hatte schon ein Alternativprogramm zuerst dem wunderschönen langen Strand entlang zu joggen als ich auf einem Plakat ‘Restaurante – Hosteria – Bar‘ entdeckte, direkt am Meer! Und hier im Domo (http://www.domobahiainglesa.com/) bezog ich fast eine Stunde einen lustigen runden Bungalow mit WiFi!

2 hours later I drove through Caldera and than 7 km further to Bahía Inglesa where I intended to look for an accommodation. Today for the first time I had difficulties to find one: whether the hotels were fully booked or nobody there (only a phone number at the door)… I already faced an alternative programme going for a run along the pretty long beach when I spotted a poster with ‘Restaurante – Hosteria – Bar’, right at the oceanfront! And here in the Domo (www.domobahiainglesa.com) almost an hour later I moved into a funny round bungalow with WiFi!

Eine halbe Stunde später rannte ich schon auf dem Sand die herrliche Bucht ab. Nach einer heissen Dusche mit viel Druck (das hatte es heute Morgen nicht, deshalb habe ich es unterlassen) machte ich mich auf Fotos von der Abendstimmung zu schiessen. So traf ich Renato aus Valparaiso, der ebenfalls am fotografieren war. Er ist ein Computertechniker für Kommunikationssysteme auf Schiffen und arbeitet gerade in Caldera. Wir kamen ins Gespräch und landeten schlussendlich im Restaurante Domo, wo wir bei einem Apero seine Bilder anschauten: Er ist ein wahrer Profi (www.flickr.com/people/renatocortes oder http://renatophoto.blogspot.com)! Renato lud mich zu Fisch und Meerfrüchten ein und gab mir als wahrer Chilekenner viele Tipps, wo ich hin soll und wo nicht auf meiner Reise Richtung Süden…

Half an hour later I ran on the beach along the pretty bay. After a hot shower with lots of pressure (which I didn’t have this morning that’s why I omitted it) I went to take pictures of the evening mood. So I got to know Renato of Valparaiso who was taking pictures as well. He is a computer technician for communication systems for boats and is working in Caldera at the moment. We got into conversation and finally landed in the Restaurante Domo where we looked at his pictures having a drink: He really is a professional (www.flickr.com/people/renatocortes or http://renatophoto.blogspot.com)! He invited me for seafood and as an expert of Chile he recommended where I should go and what I should leave on my trip direction south (Renato: Thank you for dinner and all the recommendations!)…
