Nach einem relativ kurzen aber guten Schlaf machte ich mich zu einem doppelten Espresso um die Ecke im Restaurant Scala damit ich vielleicht doch noch erwache? Danach setzte ich mich ans Frühstück, schrieb für meinen Blog und packte meine Siebensachen zusammen. Bevor ich mich auf den Weg Richtung Süden machte, holte ich meine Perlohrringe beim Juwelier Victor Bruna Díaz, die ich gestern bei ihm gesehen hatte (Nadine: Das Warten hat sich gelohnt, denn diese Perlenstecker sind speziell und ganz anders, als die die ich schon habe!).
After a short but good sleep I went around the corner to the restaurant Scala to have a double espresso, maybe I would really wake up after it? Thereafter I had breakfast, wrote for my blog and packed my things. Before I hit the road direction south I went to get my pearl earrings which I had seen yesterday at the jeweler Victor Bruna Díaz.

Ich fuhr 300 km die gleiche Strecke durch die Wüste zurück und vor Cuya war eine Lastwagenpanne und wer regelte den Verkehr? – Ja, mein lieber Freund der Jefe persönlich: Samuel! Gleich nach Cuya biegt eine Schotterpiste nach rechts zum Meer nach Caleta Camarones ab, dort wo die ältesten Mumien der Welt gefunden wurden. Da es nur 10 km waren, wagte ich es und wurde mit einer atemberaubenden Aussicht belohnt. Mumien fand ich nicht, ausser einer grossen Statue und einige Knochen, die herumlagen…
I drove 300 km through the desert back to Cuya, the same way I had come, and just before Cuya a lorry had broken down and who was regulate the traffic? – Yes, my dear friend the jefe in person: Samuel! Just after Cuya I turned right into a dirt road which led me to Caleta Camarones, where the oldest mummies of the world were found. It was only 10 km, so I took the chance and a breathtaking view rewarded me. I didn’t find any mummies but a big statue and some bones lying there…

Bei Huara führt eine Strasse links Richtung Bolivien und 20 km später erreichte ich den Cerro Unita mit dem Gigante de Atacama, einem 96 m grossen Scharrbild, dem grössten menschlichen Abbildung überhaupt.
In Huara I took the road to the left leading direction Bolivia and 20 km later I reached the Cerro Unita with its Gigante de Atacama, a 96 m petro glyph, the biggest human reproduction ever found.

Nun waren es noch ca. 100 km bis nach Pica, meinem Etappenziel, einem Oasendorf, wo alle Früchte und Gemüse der Region wachsen und ich erreichte es um 18:30 Uhr. Ich checkte im Hostal La Noria ein und fuhr gleich zum Thermalbad um mir den Staub und den Schweiss vom Körper zu waschen…
Restaurants hat es nicht viele hier die geöffnet waren, so wählte ich das El Gato Rapido aus, wo viele Leute mit vollgefüllten Tellern sassen. Ich bestellte mir gefüllte Avocado, eine Riesensteak mit Pommes und einen herrlichen Cabernet Sauvignon! Auf dem Weg zum Hostal hielt ich im Plaza de Armas an und rief meine e-mails ab mit dem öffentlichen WiFi dort…

There weren’t a lot of restaurants which were open and I choose the El Gato Rapido where a lot of people sat behind huge portions of food. I ordered a filled avocado, a big steak with chips and a delicious Cabernet Sauvignon! On the way back to the hostal I stopped at the Plaza de Armas and checked my e-mails with the public WiFi there…
