Um 9:30 Uhr ging ich zum Frühstück mit meinem Reiseführer und Landkarte. Am Tisch nebenan sass Manuel, der mir nützliche Tipps gab und bald standen schon Franco und Ricardo bei uns am Tisch, die sich ebenfalls interessierten wie gut die Strassen zu fahren sind. Bei einem einstündigen Gespräch fanden wir heraus, dass Franco und Ricardo die beiden Motorradfahrer sind, denen ich gestern auf dem Weg zur Laguna Verde begegnet bin… die beiden sind aus Argentinien und haben mich unterwegs zufälligerweise gefilmt! Unglaublich, was es nicht alles gibt!!!
Nach dem Frühstück schrieb ich für meinen Blog und machte mich danach auf um einen kurzen Stadtrundgang zu machen und einen Espresso zu trinken. Gegen 15 Uhr war ich zurück im Hotel um mein Auto abzuholen, als ich draussen Manuel von heute Morgen traf, der mir erzählte, dass er gerade eben Bescheid erhalten habe bis Montag frei zu haben… ob er mich begleiten dürfe? – Na klar! Wir luden auch sein Gepäck in mein Auto und los ging es Richtung Süden…
At 9:30 am I went for breakfast with my guide and maps. At the table next to me sat Manuel who helped me with useful hints and soon after there where Franco and Ricardo at the table who were listening too. After an hour conversation I found out that the latter two were the motorcyclists I met on way to the Laguna Verde yesterday… they are from Argentina and filmed me coincidentally! Unbelievable what can happen!!!
After breakfast I wrote for my blog and went for a walk around town afterwards to have an espresso. Around 3 pm I was back at the hotel to pick up my car when I met Manuel of this morning who told me that he just got news to be off work until Monday… if he could join me? – Of course! We put his stuff into my car and off we went direction south…

Wir fuhren ca. 100 km der Panamericana entlang und bogen dann nach rechts in eine Schotterpiste, die uns in den Parque Nacional Llanos de Challe führte. Um 17 Uhr nach 70 km erreichten wir Carrizal Bajo und von dort ging es der Küste entlang, ebenfalls auf einer Naturstrasse nach Huasco, wo wir eine Stunde später ankamen. Die Zeit verging im Nu, wir hatten interessante tiefe Gespräche und machten mehrere Fotostopps. Manuel arbeitet als Chauffeur der Goldminenarbeiter auf dem Weg zur Laguna Verde (wo ich gestern war), wo es übrigens Goldminen bis auf 5000 m Höhe gibt. Er wohnt in Ovalle, ca. 100 km südlich von La Serena, und da er momentan keine Verpflichtungen hat, geniesst er es mitzureisen und wird am Sonntag von La Serena mit dem Bus zurück nach Copiapó fahren.
We drove along the Panamericana for about 100 km and then turned right into a dirt road leading us to the Parque Nacional Llanos de Challe. At 5 pm we arrived at Carrizal Bajo after around 70 km and from there we drove along the coast to Huasco also on a dirt road and arrived there an hour later. Time flew as we had interesting and deep conversations and made lots of stops to take pictures as well. Manuel works as a bus driver for the gold miners on the way to Laguna Verde (where I was yesterday), where there are gold mines up to the altitude of 5000 m by the way. He lives in Ovalle, about 100 km south of La Serena, and because he has no commitments at present he enjoyes to travel a bit with me and will drive back to Copiapó from La Serena by bus on Sunday.

In Huasco machten wir uns auf die Suche nach einem Hotel, das relativ schwierig war, da die meisten von Minenarbeitern besetzt waren… Um 19 Uhr checkten wir im Hostal San Fernando (http://www.hostalsanfernando.cl/) ein und liefen anschliessend in den Hafen um im Restaurante Bahia frischen Fisch und Meerfüchte bei einer herrlichen Flasche chilenischen Weissweines zu verspeisen!

In Huasco we went to look for a hotel which turned out to be rather difficult as most of them were fully booked by the miners… At 7 pm we checked in the Hostal San Fernando (http://www.hostalsanfernando.cl/) and walked to the harbor to have seafood with a bottle of Chilean wine at the Restaurante Bahia!
