Nach dem Frühstück machten wir uns bereit für die kurz Weiterreise nach Ollantaytambo (100 km) und Hansruedi holte das Auto aus der Garage. Der Receptionist druckte uns die Tickets für den Machu Picchu aus und ich lud meinen letzten Post (in Deutsch) mit den Fotos aufs Internet… da kam Hansruedi wütend herein: Er hatte den Autoschlüssel im Auto eingeschlossen! Eigentlich verwunderte es mich nicht, dass ihm so etwas passieren würde (er ist ja in dieser Hinsicht ein richtiger Professor!), nahm es gelassen und informierte den Receptionisten, was geschehen war. Es ging keine Minute und schon standen zwei Angestellte mit Draht und Schraubenzieher bereit… leider konnten sie das Auto nicht öffnen. Da war aber schon der Koch am Telefon und bestellte einen Spezialisten, der es 15 Minuten später profimässig öffnete. Nun hat Melanie den automatischen Türöffner in ihrer Tasche! ; ) Und ich konnte unterdessen den letzten Post ins Englische übersetzen und aufs Internet laden!
After breakfast we got ready for our short journey to Ollantaybamba (100 km) and Hansruedi drove our car in front of the hotel. The receptionist was printing our tickets for Machu Picchu and I tried to upload my last post (in German) with the pictures when Hansruedi entered angrily: He had locked the key in the car! I took it cool because I almost awaited something like that (he is a real professor sometimes!) and informed the receptionist of what had happened. Less than a minute later two of the hotel staff stood ready with a wire and a screwdriver and tried to open the car… unfortunately without success! By then the cook was calling a specialist who arrived a quarter of an hour later and opened the car. Now Melanie carries the automatic car opener in her bag! ; ) And I translated and uploaded the English version of my last post in the meantime!

Endlich fuhren wir los Richtung Pisac, nur war wieder einmal nichts angeschrieben, so dass wir eine halbe Stunde hin und her fuhren bis wir mit Anleitung mehrerer Passanten die Strasse nach Pisac fanden. Wir fuhren nochmals an den Ruinen von Saqsayhuaman vorbei und dann in eine traumhafte Berglandschaft, wo wir in Pisac einen Halt machten um durch den Markt zu schlendern… wir kamen in einen richtigen Kaufrausch…
Finally we drove direction Pisac, but because once again nothing was signed out we drove back and forth for half an hour until the hints various people on the street guided us to the road to Pisac. We passed the ruins of Saqsayhuaman before we entered a very beautiful mountainous region. We stopped in the Pisac to walk through the market and shopped loads of souvenirs…
Finally we drove direction Pisac, but because once again nothing was signed out we drove back and forth for half an hour until the hints various people on the street guided us to the road to Pisac. We passed the ruins of Saqsayhuaman before we entered a very beautiful mountainous region. We stopped in the Pisac to walk through the market and shopped loads of souvenirs…

Um 15 Uhr kamen wir schon im hübschen Dorf Ollantaytambo am Ende des Urubamba Tales an und gleich das erste Hostal namens Las Orquideas (www.hotellasorquideasollantaytambo.com), das wir anschauten, war genau was wir suchten: Zentral gelegen (nahe beim Dorf und Bahnhof), hübsche grosse Zimmer, schöner Innenhof, sympathische Gastgeber, WiFi und alles zu einem sagenhaften Preis von 120 Soles (Fr. 50)!
Ich nahm die ‘freie‘ Zeit wahr um joggen zu gehen… herrlich in den Bergen und auf einer Höhe von ‘nur‘ 2750 m Höhe - es wird hier an der Sonne richtig heiss und am Abend ziemlich kalt, aber nicht so wie in Cuzco: Tag 23 Grad C, Nacht 0 Grad C!!!
Zum Abendessen liefen wir schon um 18 Uhr zum Plaza de Armas und hatten die Qual der Wahl eines der hübschen Restaurants auszuwählen, welche fast alle einen Pizzaofen mitten im Speisesaal besitzen! Nach einem guten und sehr günstigen Abendessen waren wir um 21 Uhr schon im Bett und der Wecker war auf 4:30 Uhr gestellt…

At 3 pm we arrived at the pretty village of Ollantaytambo at the end of the Urubamba Valley and choose the first hostel we looked at. Hostal Las Orquideas (www.hotellasorquideasollantaytambo.com) offered everything we needed: Central situation (close to the centre and the train station), nice and large rooms, pretty patio, sympathetic landlords, WiFi and all for 120 Soles (USD 50)!
I took advantage of the spare time and went for a run… fantastic in the mountains and on an altitude of ‘only’ 2750 m – here it is real hot when the sun is shining but in the evening quite chilly (but not as cold as in Cuzco: daytime 25 and at night 0 centigrade!)!
For our early dinner (6 pm) we walked to the Plaza de Armas and had difficulties to choose between too many appealing options. Most of the restaurants have a pizza oven in the dining room to bake one and keep the guests warm! After a nice dinner we were already in bed at 9 pm and our alarm clocks were set at 4:30 am…
