| Turtle Cove, Santa Cruz |
Heute Morgen um 6 Uhr noch vor dem Frühstück wurden wir noch ein letztes Mal mit den Pangas durch die Mangroven des Turtle Cove der Insel Santa Cruz geführt um die dort lebenden Tiere zu beobachten. Die Morgenstimmung und Stille war speziell und neben verschiedenen Vögeln zeigten sich Schildkröten, Rochen und junge Haie.
Nach dem Frühstück fuhren wir zum Flughafen auf die Insel Baltra. Hier trennte sich unsere Gruppe: Ein Teil blieb noch einige Tage in Puerto Ayora auf Santa Cruz um zu tauchen, ein Teil flog nach Quito und wir mit dem Rest nach Guayaquil. Nach dem Einchecken hatten wir endlich Gelegenheit noch einige Souvenirs an den verschiedenen Ständen einzukaufen…
In Guayaquil angekommen, nahmen wir ein Taxi zum Grand Hotel (www.grandhotelguayaquil.com), wo wir nun zum dritten Mal übernachteten. Obwohl es 30 Grad war, hatte ich ein grosses Bedürfnis mich freizulaufen und ging dem Malecon entlang joggen bis zum Künstlerviertel Santa Ana, danach gönnte ich mir ein ausgiebiges Bad in der Wanne… herrlich!
Wie frisch geboren setzten wir uns in die Bar um beim Willkommensdrink das Internet zu starten und die vorbereiteten Posts aufzuladen – endlich wieder einmal eine Internetverbindung, die funktioniert! Zudem hatte ich endlich die Gelegenheit Gino Luzi, Freund von Freddy und General Manager des Hotels, kennen zu lernen, ein äusserst sympathischer Mann! Wir hatten ein kurzes, nettes Gespräch, danach musste schon wieder weiter…
Zum Abendessen setzten wir uns draussen an den Pool und genossen mit einer Flasche Wein ein gutes Essen und die milde Temperatur. Während dem Essen wurde mir von einer Angestellten das Telefon überreicht: Gino war dran um zu sagen, dass der argentinische Tanz erst morgen, nicht heute, stattfindet - nicht dass wir uns auch noch auf den Weg machen (was wir eigentlich nicht vor hatten, da wir um 4:30 wieder aufstehen mussten)! Er übergab mir noch Rolf, den ehemaligen Präsidenten des Schweizer Clubs, von dem ich ganz liebe Grüsse an Freddy überreichen muss!

After breakfast we drove to the airport on Baltra Island. Our group separated here: Some stayed in Puerto Ayora on Santa Cruz Island for some days to go diving, some flew to Quito and we flew with the rest to Guayaquil. After check in we finally had the opportunity and time to shop some souvenirs…
When we arrived in Guayaquil we took a taxi to the Grand Hotel (www.grandhotelguayaquil.com) where we spent a night for the third time. Despite of a temperature of 30 centigrade I felt like running free and took a run along the Malecon to Santa Ana, a pretty artists’ quarter of the town. After that I enjoyed a nice bath in the tub… what a treat!
As new born we went down to the bar to have our welcome drinks and log into the internet to upload the prepared posts – finally internet access was really working! Moreover I had the chance to meet Gino Luzi, a friend of Freddy and general manager of the hotel, a very nice gentleman! We had a short conversation before he had to dash off for his next appointment…
For dinner we sat outside at the pool and enjoyed the mild temperatures with a nice meal and a bottle of wine. Suddenly a member of the staff brought me a telephone, it was Gino telling me that the Argentine dance will take place tomorrow not today as indicated, just in case that we intended to see the spectacle (but we weren’t as we had to get up at 4:30 the next morning)!

Kurze Zeit später trafen wir Gino und seine Frau Dinorah nochmals an der Bar und hatten eine kurze Fotosession (Freddy: von beiden einen ganz lieben Gruss!)!
