Wie bereits erwähnt ging unser Wecker um 4:30 Uhr los, um 5:15 sassen wir bereits beim Espresso und eine Viertelstunde später in 2 Taxis Richtung Flughafen. Wir hatten ja 4 Gepäckstücke im Grandhotel gelassen, und nun reisten wir mit 6 Koffern, welche nicht in einem Taxi Platz hatten! ; )
Übergepäck war auch am Flughafen ein weiteres Problem nach einer Verspätung unseres Fluges von 2 Stunden… aber mit Geld kann man ja bekanntlich fast alles lösen, so flog unser Gepäck mit uns! Ich hoffte nur, dass durch die Verspätung unseres Fluges alle kleinen Mietwagen schon vergeben sein würden in Lima…
Und genau so war es! Wir wurden von einem Angestellten der Europcar abgeholt, weil sie keine Station im Flughafengebäude, und fuhren mit ihm an die Küste vor Miraflores (Nadine: sieht ganz gut aus!). Wir waren schon froh, als uns ein Toyota Yaris hingestellt wurde, und lachen musste ich, als die Angestellten wie selbstverständlich unser Gepäck hineinzustopfen versuchten! Alles hatte Platz! Nun brauchte ich noch eine Landkarte von Peru und eine Wegleitung wie wir aus Lima raus kommen - alles wurde uns geliefert, so dass wir Richtung Süden der Küste entlang der Panamericana fuhren. Der Küstenstrasse entlang fuhren wir an allen Stränden vorbei, wo wagemutige Surfer den Wellen trotzten, die Stadt sahen wir hoch auf dem Sandstein thronen.
As already mentioned our morning started at 4:30 am, at 5:15 am we were having our espressos and 5:30 am sitting in 2 taxis direction airport. We stored 4 pieces of luggage at the Grand Hotel, and now we were travelling with 6 pieces and there was no room in 1 taxi! ; )
Excess baggage was the next problem after a delayed flight of 2 hours… but with money almost every problem can be solved and our baggage flew with us! And I hoped the delay would solve the problem that no small rental cars were available in Lima…
And exactly that was the case! A staff member of Europcar picked us up as they don’t have an agency at the airport and drove us to the coast close to Miraflores. And we were very happy to see a Toyota Yaris being prepared for us and had to laugh as the staff tried to stick all the suitcases in the car as they would do for themselves! There was room for everything! Now I needed a map of Peru and some directions how to get out of the city – everything was delivered and off we went on the Panamericana along the coast direction south. The road led us along lots of beaches where crazy surfers were looking for waves and we saw the town to sit enthroned above hills of sandstone.

So hatten wir uns Peru gar nicht vorgestellt! Schon nach einigen Kilometern südwärts erkennten wir, dass hier eigentlich Wüste ist – Marokko lässt grüssen! Während Hansruedi fuhr, Melanie hinten schlief orientierte ich mich im Reiseführer und fixierte Paracas (ca. 250 km südlich) als Ziel. Unterwegs stoppten wir um frisches Obst von Strassenbuden zu kaufen – fantastisch!
We had no idea how Peru would look like! Only a few miles south of Lima we noticed that we were in midst of the desert – I remembered Morocco! While Hansruedi was driving and Melanie taking a nap on the backseat I read my guide and fixed Paracas (250 km south of Lima) as our destination for today. On the way we stopped to buy some fresh fruit at a stall along the road – fantastic!

Um 18 Uhr erreichten wir Paracas und checkten die vom Reiseführer erwähnten Hotels aus, wir entschieden uns für das Posada del Emancipador (www.posadaemancipador.com), bezogen das hübsche Zimmer und begaben uns hungrig ins Gourmet Restaurant... es riecht schon sooo gut - kein Wunder, das Hotel hat seine eigene Bäckerei!
Heute Abend werde ich aber bestimmt nicht alt, ich bin todmüde vom wenig schlafen, frühen aufstehen und reisen…

At 6 pm we arrived at Paracas, checked out all the hotels indicated in our guide and decided for the Posada del Emancipador (www.posadaemancipador.com). We installed in pretty room and went hungry to the gourmet restaurant… it smelled sooo nice – no wonder, the hotel has its own bakery!
But tonight I won’t get old for sure as I am very tired from sleeping little, getting up early and travelling…
