Heute Morgen hiess es um 8 Uhr aufstehen, schnell einen Tee zubereiten und mich bereit machen, dann René holte mich um 8:45 Uhr mit seinem Laster und meinem armen Pöschöli ab… wir fuhren zu Europcar, wo Gustavo und César entschieden mir für die restlichen 3 Tage ein anderes Auto zu geben und den Peugeot per Schiff und Laster zurück nach Antofagasta zu schicken. Eine Stunde später sass ich schon in einem brandneuen Chevrolet Cruze mit allem was man sich wünschen kann, sogar einem Schiebedach und am wichtigsten: Neuen Pneus mit gutem Profil!!! Mit Europcar habe ich wirklich einen exzellenten Service genossen, alles lief reibungslos ab!
This morning I had to get up at 8 am, quickly prepared tea and made myself ready because at 8:45 am René arrived with his lorry and my poor Peugeot… we drove to Europcar, where César and Gustavo decided to give me another car for the rest of the three days and to send the Peugeot back to Antofagasta by ship and lorry. An hour later I already sat in a brand-new Chevrolet Cruze equipped with everything one can ask for, even a sunroof and the most important thing: new tyres with good profile!!! Europcar really delivered an excellent service, everything run smoothly!

Zurück im El Mirador holte ich meine Koffer ab und Juan gab mir noch ein paar Ratschläge, was ich unbedingt in der Gegend anschauen soll uns was ich lassen kann. Danach ging ich nochmals in die Stadt, genoss im Restaurante Ricer einen Espresso, kaufte für die Reise ein und kaufte ein Flugticket von Balmaceda (Coyhaique) nach Punta Arenas am Donnerstag mit Sky Airlines (damit kam ich am 30.11. von Lima in Antofagasta an).
Back at the El Mirador I picked up my suitcases and Juan gave me some advices what to visit in the region and what to leave. Thereafter I went back into town, had an espresso at the Restaurante Ricer, bought some supplies for on the way as well as my air ticket from Balmaceda (Coyhaique) to Punta Arenas next Thursday with Sky Airlines (with whom I had arrived in Antofagasta on the 30st of November from Lima).

Um 14:30 Uhr machte ich mich endlich auf den Weg und fuhr auf der Ruta 7 Richtung Süden 100 km auf asphaltierten und danach 120 km auf Naturstrassen... eigentlich wollte ich nach meinen Erfahrungen keine Schotterpisten mehr fahren, aber Juan hatte mir ans Herz gelegt nach Puerto Rio Tranquilo zu fahren und das Profil der Pneus sahen vertrauenswürdig aus… was sie auch waren, denn ich traf 5 Stunden später im hübschen Hafenort am Lago General Carrera, den zweitgrössten See in Südamerika nach Lago Titicaca. Im Hostal Costanera (www.hostalcostanera.cl) fand ich ein sauberes Zimmer und setzte mich gleich ins gemütliche Restaurant um meinen ersten Wildlachs in Chile zu verzehren. Ich wollte nach dem Essen an meinem Blog arbeiten und César, der Besitzer, gab mir seinen USB-Stecker fürs Internet, da setzte sich aber Germán an meinen Tisch, wir verwickelten uns in ein spannendes Gespräch und ich kam zu nichts mehr sonst…

At 2:30 pm I finally hit the road and drove along Ruta 7 direction south, first 100 km on asphalted streets and thereafter 120 km on dirt roads… actually I intended not to drive on dirt roads any more after my experiences, but Juan insisted me going to Puerto Rio Tranquilo and the profile of the new tyres looked reliable… and they luckily were! 5 hours later I reached the pretty village on the Lago General Carrera, the second biggest lake in South America after Lago Titicaca. At the Hostal Costanera (www.hostalcostanera.cl) I found a clean room and went right to have dinner in the cozy restaurant where I ordered my first wild salmon in Chile. After dinner I wanted to write for my blog and César, the owner, lent me his pendriver for the internet, but then Germán came over to my table, we started an interesting conversation and I left everything else for tomorrow…
