3.12.2011 Chile: Chaitén – La Junta

Heute Morgen als ich zum Frühstück ging erwarteten mich zwei Überraschungen: Es war grau und regnete und mein Auto hatte wieder eine Platte… Michel aus Frankreich, den ich gestern Abend kennen gelernt hatte und der mit Christoph hier in Patagonien unterwegs ist, half mir freundlicherweise das defekte Rad zu entfernen und Carlos fuhr mich damit zur nächsten Reifenreparaturstätte. Während es geflickt wurde gingen wir einkaufen und ich lernte alle Supermärkte in Chaitén kennen! Nachdem alles geregelt war, fuhr ich um 12:30 Uhr zur Don Baldo, die heute Morgen aus Puerto Montt wieder hier angekommen war um Rodrigo und Carlos zu begrüssen. Sie luden mich zum Mittagessen ein, aber ich wollte doch heute etwas früher Richtung Süden fahren, deswegen lehnte ich ab… : (

This morning when I went for breakfast two surprises were awaiting me: it was grey and rainy as well as my car had another flat tyre… Michel from France, who I got to know last night travelling with Christoph here in Patagonia, kindly helped to remove the faulty wheel and Carlos drove me to the next tyre vulcaniser to have it repaired. Whilst it got repaired we went shopping and I got to know almost every supermarket in Chaitén! After everything was arranged around noon I drove to the Don Baldo, which had arrived this morning from Puerto Montt, to see Rodrigo and Carlos. They invited me for lunch but I had to refuse because I intended to drive on direction south a bit earlier… : (

Nun ging es 25 km auf einer asphaltierten Carretera Austral und anschliessen 120 km auf Schotterpisten Richtung Süden. Alles ging recht gut ich fuhr behutsam, und trotzdem als ich 3 Stunden späte in La Junta ankam hatte ich wieder einen platten Reifen! Um meine Nerven zu beruhigen trank ich zuerst im Mi Casita de Té einen doppelten Espresso und erzählte Eliana von meinem Missgeschick… sie telefonierte gleich herum und fand eine Reifenreparaturstätte, die offen war. Ich begab mich dorthin und musste bitter feststellen, dass der Reifen komplett ruiniert war (sehr wahrscheinlich habe ich es auf der holprigen Schotterpiste nicht gemerkt…) und mein Reserverad verlor Luft und war ebenfalls irreparabel! Was nun? – Zum Glück hatte mir Eliana vom Mi Casita de Té (http://micasitadete.surweb.cl/servicios.php) gesagt, dass sie auch Zimmer vermietet, das Restaurant hat mir eh gleich zugesagt, so etwas von urgemütlich! Also fuhr ich zurück zu ihr, wir riefen Europcar an, die mir morgen, so Gott will, neue Reifen bringen werden, und ich mietete mich bei ihr ein…

Now I drove 25 km on asphalted roads on the Carretera Austral and thereafter 120 km on dirt roads direction south. Everything went fine and I drove quite cautiously, nevertheless when I arrived at La Junta 3 hours later I had another flat tyre! To calm down my nerves I had a double espresso at the Mi Casita de Té and told Eliana about my bad luck… she immediately called around to look for a tyre vulcaniser. When I was there I bitterly had to notice that the tyre was ruined completely (obviously I hadn’t noticed it on the bumpy roads…) and my spare wheel lost air and was irreparable as well! And where do I go from here? – Luckily Eliana from Mi Casita de Té (http://micasitadete.surweb.cl/servicios.php) had told me that she lets rooms and anyway I liked her cozy restaurant at first sight! So I drove back to her, we called Europcar, who will bring me new tyres tomorrow, God willing, and I registered at her place…

Ich war richtig glücklich über ein warmes, sauberes und nettes Zimmer, WiFi und einen abgeschlossenen Parkplatz und noch mehr über das gemütliche Restaurant, wo ich mir ein super Abendessen inklusiver eine Flasche Wein genehmigte!

Übrigens sind Brando und Bill heute in Ushuaia und treffen Guadelupe, die ich in Bolivien auf meinem Salar de Uyuni Ausflug kennen gelernt habe… zudem hat Thijs, den ich in der Schule in Sucre kennengelernt habe, mir geschrieben er sei heute ebenfalls in Ushuaia… vielleicht treffe ich ihn in wenigen Tagen wieder in La Calafate oder Torres del Paine (Puerto Natales)?

I was really happy here with a warm, clean and nice room, WiFi and a closed parking lot and even more with the cozy restaurant where I had a delicious dinner including a bottle of fine wine!

By the way, Brando and Bill are in Ushuaia today and will meet Guadelupe who I got to know in Bolivia on my Salar de Uyuni excursion… moreover Thijs, who I got to know at school in Sucre, wrote me that he is in Ushuaia tonight as well… maybe we will meet a few days later in La Calafate or Torres del Paine (Puerto Natales)?
